The Mineworkers Development Agency (MDA) was created in 1987 as a job creation wing of NUM and was transformed into a Section 21 non-profit organization in 1995. The MDA has 21 years of development experience in job-creation and small micro and medium enterprises (SMME’s) through facilitation of services and project management. MDA receives an average donation of R7 million per annum from MIT Program. MDA works with Barui Petrochemicals as an Enterprise Development Partner for Mining Communities.

The South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) is a Schedule 3A state owned entity that was established as a successor to the previously created South African National Energy Research Institute (SANERI) and the National Energy Efficiency Agency (NEEA). The main function of SANEDI is to direct, monitor and conduct applied energy research and development, demonstration and deployment as well to undertake specific measures to promote the uptake of Green Energy and Energy Efficiency in South Africa. SANEDI works with Barui Petrochemicals around the research and development of waste-to-fuel plants.

Skipgo is a waste management and disposal company that provides an invaluable service in the waste industry, inclusive of general waste, liquid waste as well as builders rubble providing their clients with safe disposal certificates are part of their professional operation. Skipgo current supports over 80 agents across South Africa. Skipgo works with Barui Waste Management to provide waste materials to various third-party recyclers.
